Four members of the Bani Odeh family were killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank on March 14th. The event occurred near the town of Tammun, close to Tubas, during an Israeli military operation in the area. According to Palestinian officials and Palestinian Red Crescent medical sources, the family members were killed when the IDF opened fire on the vehicle they were traveling in.
Military and humanitarian conditions have worsened over the past week across multiple theaters tied to the expanding Iran war. The most drastic deterioration is the situation in Lebanon, where Israeli operations have widened and internal displacement of civilians continues to surge. In the West Bank, under the cover of war in the region, there has been a deadly spike in civilian killings by the IDF as well as instances of settler violence. In India, developments affecting Christians this week include a church vandalism attack in Odisha, criminal charges filed after a major Christian prayer gathering in Maharashtra, and, on a positive note, a court-backed reaffirmation that Christians may legally hold prayer meetings in private homes.
Reports circulating from local journalists and Palestinian sources indicate that Israeli forces shot and killed two Palestinian teenagers, aged 16 and 17, and injured a third youth in the village of Sinjil, north of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. According to initial reports, IDF soldiers opened fire and killed the teenagers for allegedly throwing stones.
VPP has received reports from Taybeh that since the morning of March 19, more than 30 Israeli settlers have entered a quarry and concrete plant site located west of the town of Al-Taybeh, where they have been conducting Talmudic rituals and prayers. This presence has continued for the second consecutive day, with settlers effectively taking control of the entire area, constituting a serious escalation and a clear violation of property rights, and raising significant concerns about attempts to impose new facts on the ground.
A deeply disturbing report has emerged from the West Bank, where a Palestinian man was subjected to sexual assault during a violent settler attack intended to intimidate him. This development signals an alarming escalation in brutality against Palestinians in the West Bank under cover of the Iran war.
The most acute pressure points in the expanding Iran War remain the Strait of Hormuz and Lebanon, where displacement accelerates amidst expanding Israeli operations. In the West Bank, settler violence and civilian killings have also increased drastically, demanding immediate international attention. In the United States, political support for the conflict appears increasingly fragile as costs rise and fear of a drawn out conflict increase. Meanwhile, the Vatican continues to urge world leaders to an immediate ceasefire as civilian casualties mount across the region.
This report documents the escalation of events in Taybeh between 1 and 19 March 2026, including the tightening of military restrictions and settler activities targeting civilians and private property.
Restrictions on movement through checkpoints and roadblocks intensified, impacting daily life. Settler incursions into agricultural lands increased, along with an entry into a stone quarry and concrete plant in western Taybeh, where the Israeli flag was raised and Talmudic prayers were recited.
Residents reported increased fear due to the proximity of these events to residential areas. A thoroughbred horse and a foal were also stolen under the watch of Israeli forces.
These developments raise concerns under international humanitarian law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention (1949).
With global attention fixed on the widening war across the Middle East, a deeply consequential crisis is unfolding in Silwan, East Jerusalem.
Today, Israeli forces entered the neighborhood of Silwan in East Jerusalem to evict 11 Palestinian families from their homes. The ethnic cleansing in East Jerusalem has been amped up, with approximately 2,200 people in Silwan facing imminent forced displacement. This is one of the largest forcible transfers in East Jerusalem in recent years, and it is not an isolated incident but part of a pattern that continues to accelerate.
The most alarming developments over the course of the past week have taken place in the Holy Land, where religious restrictions, seizure of property, and the Knesset’s approval of the death penalty for Palestinians, unfold in a moment of already high tension. Meanwhile in the West Bank, violence continues to rise and pressure is mounting on Christian communities, particularly the Christian village of Taybeh. These developments signal a deepening crisis affecting both religious freedom and civilian stability.
The situation in the Holy Land this week reflects a deepening convergence of civil unrest, religious restriction, and escalating pressure on both Palestinian and Christian communities.

Last night, the Israeli army arrested 14-year-old Palestinian Christian child Qais Elias Aqel from the village of Aboud in the West Bank. Qais is in the 9th grade at school and also serves in his local church. The Israeli army has not provided any explanation for his arrest.
